Special Section: A Discussion
I want to hear from you…
Tell us what you love about the men in your life. You may write about your spouse, father, brother, son, or friend.
What I love about men is their ability to rise to the occasion when we raise our standards for their behavior. The challenge for women is understanding that disappointments should not be taken personally. Overtime, women will be fondly remembered for insisting men do better.
There are so many things I love about my husband. Like one in particular is the way he encourages me when there are times I feel I can't accomplish something or I may feel I don't have what it takes. He reminds me that everyone who's ever achieved something had to "begin" somewhere! My sons are 2 adventurous boys who loves family and life. They are such a joy to me and my husband. My brother is the comedian who keeps me laughing everytime we hang out and my Father is a God fearing man who wants nothing but the best for me and my sisters.
I have been blessed by the presence of amazing men. It started with my father and brother and led to wonderful male friendships which ultimately led to my beautiful husband Troy and my son who makes me proud to be his mother every day. The unconditional and unwavering love I received from my father and brother taught me that good men are consistent, reliable, compassionate, your biggest fan and advocate, loving and kind, forgiving and patient. I have spent my life surrounded by these men and could tell you beautiful stories all day long. My husband and brother are my two favorite people on earth. The love and friendship they afford me is a gift I thank God for every single day. My dad was such a good father and husband to my mom I learned early what a healthy relationship should look like. I am forever thankful to them.
The greatest men in my life started with those in my family; father, brothers, uncles. Because of how the men in my family treat women set the standard for the man in my life.
I love the support, the protection and the respect that the men in my life have shown. Now I have a man in my life who embodies the standards set by the men in my family. What I love about the special man in my life is his honesty and the way he expresses his love for me in his actions not just his words.
